Meet Jessica

I have always believed that design should feel effortless and livable, beautiful spaces that welcome you in rather than simply impress from afar.

Before founding Jessica James Interiors, my career began in retail management with brands like Gap, Banana Republic, and Coach, where I led visual merchandising teams and developed an eye for proportion, texture, and balance. From large flagship locations in New York City to smaller boutique stores, I learned how to create environments that tell a story and draw people in.

My design experience deepened when I worked as a design assistant and apprentice for an interior designer in Manhattan who creates high end luxury homes throughout New York City and second homes in Connecticut, Vermont, and upstate New York. During those three years, I learned the importance of detail, quality, and thoughtful selections and had the chance to see how elevated design can still feel warm and welcoming.

After years in leadership roles and raising my two children, I began redesigning my own homes. First a full transformation of a 1990s Florida house into a modern coastal retreat, and later a semi custom build in Franklin, Tennessee. Each project strengthened my love for the process, from reworking architecture to refining details and layering finishes that make everyday living feel easier and more beautiful.

My background is not traditional, and that is part of what defines my approach. I see design through the lens of real life. Family gatherings, morning routines, and quiet moments are what make a house a home. My work blends timeless materials, clean lines, and muted natural tones to create spaces that feel calm, cohesive, and deeply personal.
